Music and Art of Southeast Asia ( Indonesia)


B. Performance Standard:

-The learner performs Southeast Asian songs with appropriate pitch, rhythm, expression and style.

-The learner creates artworks showing the characteristic elements of the arts of Southeast Asia

C. Learning Competencies:

- listens perceptively to music of Southeast Asia;

- improvises simple accompaniment to selected Southeast Asian music;

- performs music from Southeast Asia with own accompaniment;

- evaluates music and music performances using guided rubrics applying

knowledge of musical elements and style.

-creates crafts that can be locally assembled with local materials, guided by

local traditional techniques (hand drawn batik using washable glue),

D. Performance Task:

Differentiated Activities: ( Choose only 1 of these activities)

  • Singing an Indonesian Folk Song

(Vocal music- Video clip)

  • Instrumental Playing of Indonesian Folk Song

(Instrumental music – Video clip)

  • Improvisation of song accompaniment (Si Patokaan)
(Improvisation- Video clip)
  • Batik Making

(Creating / Making Batik- Video clip)


Materials:

Vocal Singing - video cam or cellphone with audio and

video recorder, lyrics of the song si Patokaan (link is provided as your guide)

Instrumental Playing - any available instruments such as guitar,

flute or kalimba (link is provided as your guide)

Improvisation of Song Accompaniment (Si Patokaan)

- body parts, wood, pen and table, kitchen utensils


BATIK Making - white t shirt/ cloth, at least 5 pcs. venus powder, washable glue, paint (optional),brush, basin, salt, kettle/casserole 


Procedure:

1. Choose 1 of those activities listed above.

2. Practice the song, playing instrument prior the recording.

3. For those who chose the Batik Making, have your reference design 

    ready or you may create it before taking a video.

4. Gather all the materials needed.

5. Take a video recording while performing the chosen performance task.

6. Format in the video:

a.State your name,

b.Grade & section ,

c. the chosen performance task - (your face must be seen in the intro)

d. execute the task.

e.Finish Product

f. Snap shots. ( Optional you may included bloopers)

g. Reflection.  In making this project, what insights/ learnings you got?


6. You may create a  youtube channel (Use your Name for your Channel)

7. Upload your video in youtube or any platform (which can generate a link)  with the

title: Vocal Singing by: ( your Family Name)

title: Instrumental Playing by: ( your Family Name)

title: Improvisation of Song by: (your Family Name)

title: Batik Making by: (your Family Name)

Publish it in Unlisted.
